Obedience to the word, fear and destruction

Today’s word comes from Jeremiah chapter 41 – 43. Ishmael was able to kill Gedaliah and all the Jews who he found at mizpah he also killed the Chaldeans who were there. He also killed some of the 80 men  who came from Shechem, Shiloh and from Samaria with incense and offering to bring them to the house of the Lord but 10 of the men  offered Ishmael the wheat, barley, oil and honey so that they were not to be killed. Ishmael carried into captivity all the other people who were left in mizpah they headed to the ammonite. Johanan and the other captain came to rescue of the captives and  dwelt at chimham, which is near  Bethlehem they were headed to Egypt. They were afraid of Chaldeans because Ishmael had killed the appointed governor.Johanna and all the people came to Jeremiah and asked him to pray to the Lord, that the Lord may show them the way in which they should walk and the thing they should do. After 10 days the Lord answered their prayer, that they should stay in Judah and he will build them and not destroy them but if they choose to go to Egypt they shall die by the sword, famine and pestilence but they choose to disobey the word of the Lord and they decided to go to Egypt and dwell there. They also accused Jeremiah that he has been sent to deliver them to the hands of the Chaldeans an so all the people went and dwelt in the land of Egypt. The Lord of host brought destruction upon them though the invasion of the king of Babylon. Those for death were killed and those to be taken into captivity were also taken into captivity. He also destroyed all the gods by fire in land of Egypt. He also broke the sacred pillars of beth shemesh and the house of the gods of the Egyptians.

As Christians do we understand that obedience to the Lord is better than sacrifice? What do we fear the wrath of the world or the anger and wrath of the Lord? Why do we inquire from the Lord when we have our worldly solutions? Why do we bring destruction to ourselves through our wicked ways?

To the Lord of host obedience to Him is better than all the sacrifice and incense we would like to offer Him. We should only fear the Lord and pray to the Lord to send His Holy spirit to calm our other anxiety and fear.

The Lord brings Joy in times of adversity

Today’s word comes from the book of  Jeremiah chapter 40.The Babylonian released Jeremiah from bondage, and was kind to him and allowed him to decided what he wants to do with his life. The Babylonian knew and recognized the God of Jeremiah though they didn’t follow in his ways, they knew all that Jeremiah prophesied about. Gedaliah was allowed to govern Judah and Jeremiah dwelt with him among the poorest people who were not taken captive. They were to obey the king of Babylon and they were to enjoy all the wine and the oils that was really available. All the Jews that were in another countries returned to Judah to enjoy the plenty that the land had to offer. Johanan and other captain tried to tell Gedaliah  that Ishmael had been sent by the Ammonite king to kill him but he did not believe them.

As Christians do we know that the world knows that our Lord is mighty and that’s why the world fight the Lord’s word? Do we know that it is not  the Lord who departs from us but we depart from Him and His glory? In times of adversity the Lord is always present to give us joy and peace? The Lord has plenty to offer us only if obey his word.

The Lord will always keep his promise and He always brings joy and peace to us when we accept to obey His word.

The Lord’s word always stands the test of time

Today’s word comes from Jeremiah chapter 39,it came to pass that the word of the Lord spoken through prophet Jeremiah was happening. Jerusalem was under attack by the by Chaldeans army. The king, his sons and his nobles tried to escape but they were captured and brought to king nebuchadnezzar who was in hamath, were judgement was pronounced upon them. The king’s sons and nobles were killed and the king’s eyes were removed his sockets. The city was destroyed with fire and the population was taken into captivity. The poor people were left in Judah and they inherited the vineyard

King of babylon also ordered the release of Jeremiah and no harm was to befall  him. ebed-melech was delivered from adversity by the Lord.

As Christians do we know that what the Lord has decided will happen? Do we know how to know if a prophet is sent by the Lord or not? Do we stand out from the crowd and do the right deed even when it is not palatable in the society?

We should learn that our Lord does not say thing that will not happen so we should learn to obey His word if they are favorable or not.if we obey his mercy and compassion will always be on our side. The ones who the society views as nobody and disadvantage, The Lord sees them as wealthy and favoured.always show mercy and mercy will be shown unto you

Choose the voices which you should obey

Today’s word comes from Jeremiah chapter 38,some people were annoyed by the word s Jeremiah was speaking and which were in favor of the Chaldeans and so they inquired from the king if they could throw him into the pit and the king allowed them . A eunuch by the name ebed-melech pleaded with the king and he was allowed to remove Jeremiah from the pit. The eunuch used some old rugged clothes tied them and asked Jeremiah to tie the clothes under his armpits and he pulled him up. later the king inquired secrectly from Jeremiah the word of the Lord upon him. Jeremiah said to him if you obey the word of the Lord you and your household would be saved but if you don’t destruction will befall on you. The king was more concerned that their discussion be kept a secret and the views of the people and not obeying the word of the Lord.

As Christians when we are in pit or the valley is our faith the same as when we are in the mountains? Which voice do we normally obey, when we are in pit the voice of the world or the Lord? Does the voice of world influence the decision we make as Christians? Can we keep our faith through all the trials and temptation?

Obeying the word of the Lord all the time the good times and in the bad times. allowing myself to enjoy the warmth, love and mercy when I am under his armpits. as a woman in labor the pain is unbearable but after she hold the baby the joy in her heart erases all the pain, though it was painful it was worth it. that is what we as Christians should say my journey of life is not easy but it is worth it when the Lord is with me.

Depend in the Lord

Who or what do we depend on in case of trouble

Today’s word comes from Jeremiah chapter 37,king zedekiah and the people of Israel and  Judah didn’t follow the word of the Lord spoken by  prophet jeremiah.the king sent one of his servants to Jeremiah,”pray now to the Lord our God  for us”.the king also sort the help of pharaoh’s army for the Chaldeans were besieging Jerusalem. The Lord said to Jeremiah you shall go to king who sent you to inquire from me and say that the army of pharaoh which came to help you will return to their country and the Chaldeans will return and destroy the land with fire.they threw Jeremiah into prison but the word of the Lord was fulfilled.

As Christian’s do we seek the Lord for help and intervention and also have a worldly solutions for our problems?Do we have patience to wait upon the Lord and obey His word at all time? Have we opened our eyes to the fact that worldly solutions may seem to solve a problem for a while but it will always return with serious consequences than before?

As I always say for the Lord’s eyes are not blind that He can’t see the situation we are in,His ears not deaf that He can’t hear our prayers,His arms are not short that He can’t reach you and me and comfort us.But we must understand that the Lord’s time is not our own time, and when you think  He is too late that’s when He comes and shows you that all is well.Amen

Christians fears

Today’s word comes from the book of Jeremiah chapter 36.The Lord spoke to Jeremiah “take a scroll of a book and write all the words I have spoken against Israel, Judah and the other nations.”The Lord was giving them another chance for them to realize their wicked ways and turn away from them. The Lord wanted them to turn away from their evil way so that he can forgive their sins and iniquities, but fear of the religious leaders and burning of the scroll by the king increased the anger and wrath of the Lord which lead to their downfall.

As Christian’s has fear hindered us from taking action against any wicked ways in the society?have we as Christians stopped leaning on the word of the Lord and instead tried to find solutions in the worldly ways?do we trust the Lord completely or we have plan b when the Lord’s answers are not quick as we wish them to be?

Christians let’s not burn the scrolls given to us by the Lord and continue in our wicked ways, for our Lord gives us a second chance to amend our ways.lets avoid the anger and the wrath of the Lord at all cost.

Returning to the ways of our fore father’s

Today’s words comes from the book of Jeremiah chapter 35.from my understanding through prayer, the house of the Rechabites were tested by the Lord on obedience to their believe and they came out victories.wine was offered to them but they obeyed the voices of their fore father’s and didn’t not accept to defile themselves.

The Lord of  host was lamenting about the tribe Judah and the lsralites,”will you not receive my Instructions to obey My word’s”.The Lord was lamenting how he has sent servants and prophets to urge them to turn from their evil ways and not to serve  other gods  but it all fell on deaf ears.

As Christian’s, do we need to return to the old ways of the cross?,have we allowed the ways of the world to define our faith?,have we allowed the ways of the world define how we worship our Lord?,Lastly have we been blinded by believing the offerings and sacrifices we offer to the Lord are enough,so we choose the path of sacrifices than obedience to His word?
